The Official "Florida - Timoteo" Memorial Page!

Some tragic news reached us here in the CRT community this past week that one of our original board members "Florida" aka Timoteo had passed on to the next life. It was with great sadness to hear that a man, a person, a CRT brother was so distraught that there was no other way out for him. He was a good friend to many, like a brother to others & his presence, humor, and his outward jovial way of life will surely be missed by the CRT community and his family and friends. Over the past few days many have contributed stories or well meant wishes towards him and I include them below.

"It is with a sad and heavy heart that I have to inform you all that Florida's big heart is no longer beating.
He passed away last Monday. I just found out today.
I have tears running down my face as I type this. It is especially sad as he has taken his own life.
He was a big man with an even bigger heart. I will miss him forever. I love you Timoteo"

Florida's first act of generosity was when I barely knew him, Dec. 2005 I booked for Festival de Luz but could not find a room available for my first couple nights. He PM'd me and offered up the 2nd bedroom of the Presidente master suite. We had such a blast with the huge Jacuzzi, the bar, we dragged a big palm plant in from the hallway and decorated it for a Christmas tree (chicas loved it), a "parade party" on the big screen and also live outside the balcony on Ave. 2, plus bringing women in and out who loved hanging out in the suite that I stayed there my entire trip. At some point during the festival parade we all went down into the street crowd to join the party armed with silly string and blinky toys, we were a hit with the niños and Florida had me to tears with his endless jokes and comments, it was one of those nights I ached from laughing so hard.

During later trips Florida was often buying rounds, doing something for a laugh at the HDR happy hrs. and usually brought little toys, gifts, pranks or some goofy off-the-wall items, seems I recall him wearing huge plastic sunglasses one night. At some point I realized that pretty much everything he said was a joke, pun, or play on words and if you didn't pay attention you'd wouldn't catch it. One late night at KL a chica was putting the hard sell on me and said she liked my hair and kept playing with it, (Florida wouldn't let that go and was always giving me crap about my hair) then she said she was studying to be a nurse so naturally Florida asked her if she would come to his room and examine his balls and not to worry he had shaved them. Another KL night he kept tossing ice cubes at a waitress, she never could figure out who the hell was doing it. One day at lunch he gave a chica the nickname "Teabag", pretty sure she didn't know what it meant but we were cracking up because she would look over every time he said it. Yeah silly stuff but these are the good times I remember in the gulch- laughing my ass off with CRT amigos.

On a serious note- he once told me that he could make intelligent more serious posts on the board if he wanted to but for him CR was all about having fun. Another time that that money was "just paper" to him while on vacation, he could always go back home and earn more. I saw Florida last Halloween in CR and he mentioned being troubled about his Dad, we talked about mine passing away a couple yrs. ago and how I dealt with it. Looking back I guess the big funny guy taught me a few things... like that internet discussion boards, money and life in general should not be taken too seriously.

I remember talking with him at the News Cafe a few years ago about something, maybe a trip coming to an end. He said that he believed everything has a beginning and an end, and will make full circle. It looks like we will never know why he chose to end his time here at such a young age, guess all we can do now is be grateful for the good times.
