Hi all

At the last minute, I've been told that I don't need to work between Christmas and New Years. It is my only time for a trip before late 2024, so I want to go somewhere. Flight prices are crazy, so SEA is out of the question. San Jose, Medellin/Bogota, Sosua are all within my price range, but other forums for the other places suggest that Sosua and Medellin are not worth visiting the week between Christmas and New Years.

Posts here from pre-COVID give me hope that San Jose may still have a decent-ish number of Chicas during this time? I assume SL will be open and will likely be the best place for a Newbie to spend the week?

Any post-COVID observations in relation to the Christmas/NY week would be appreciated. I'm not picky in terms of Chicas, just need a few over the week to make the trip a success in my eyes.

christmas week & easter week are the absolute worst weeks of the year to visit sjo for mongering. There will be

a few chicas around but the usual venues will prob have 10%-20% of the normal contestants. Look forward to

seeing the worst of the worst, the fat, the ugly, & the truly desperate.

Which makes it 5x better than any US mongering options. If your goal is only a few half indecent chicas, that can easily be met. The only truly dead days will be Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The SL looks to have 10% occupancy those days. The weather will be great. Stay away from the beaches, they will be jam packed with Ticos.

I would consider it a good time to come. No Cien Boys and a few desperate Chicas looking for money. They will be as desperate as you so you make a good combo. Just remember it will definitely beat the USA. I spent a Christmas here once before I moved here. It wasn’t bad, I enjoyed it. Who cares if 30 people are out of your room at the bar. On Christmas Day, watch the game, a good meal and enjoy yourself. Just come on down grab yourself one or two…….. you won’t regret it.
